MEGAN POOLE, PH.D.
I'm a community-engaged scholar and teacher at the University of Texas at Austin
who specializes in rhetoric, composition, and technical/professional writing. I love to bring students face-to-face with their local settings and future professions through public writing projects, asking them to meet their neighbors and colleagues with care and respect.
As a first-generation college student from rural Louisiana, I never imagined that I would become a university professor. Now, I am in a position to challenge how academic institutions value certain ways of knowing and to create non-hierarchical systems that welcome diverse learners and thinkers.
If you're a student interested in public and professional writing or rhetorics of science, let's find a time to talk about building your skillset. If you're interested in working with college students on a public writing project in Austin or along coastal Louisiana, tell me about your organization's writing needs. If you're a scholar interested in collaborating on interdisciplinary projects related to my expertise, know that I welcome new collaborations with great interest.
Reach out anytime. I'll look forward to working with you.
